The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 Movie PosterRight now I would like everyone to allow their imaginations to run rampant for a moment. Let’s pretend for a moment that both Vampires, and Wizards do actually exist in our world. Now, I want you to ask yourself: In a battle to the death, who would come out on top, Vampires or Wizards? If you voted for Wizards, you will be happy to know that you selected the winning team, as far as box office numbers are concerned, anyway.

Sure, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, well, broke dawn, but it certainly did not break any box office midnight opening records. However, Twilight fans showed up in full effect and shelled out $30.2 million dollars to watch the newest Twilight in theaters at its midnight premiere. Of course, $30.2 million dollars sounds like a great deal of money, but it is nothing compared to the $43.5 million dollars that was collected at box offices when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 premiered. So, it looks like the Wizard came out on top, but it wasn’t exactly a fair fight. Let’s look at a few key points:

  1. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn  – Part 1 raked in $30.2 million dollars at midnight premieres thurday night.
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 raked in $43.5 million dollars at midnight premieres
  3. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn  – Part 1 was screened in 3,521 theaters.
  4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was screened in 3,800 theaters.
  5. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn  – Part 1 did not have the option of being watched in 3D, therefore resulting in less money.

So, if you Twilight fans out there want a little bit of ammunition when having this debate with Harry Potter fans, now you have a fully loaded clip. For now, anyway, Wizard did take it to the Vampires in this battle, but there is still another battle raging. As you can see, there is a poll attached to this post. I want you to let me know who you think would win in a battle to the death: Vampires or Wizards.

Update December 19th, 2013

It’s just crazy to look back at this post and see what was going on a little over 2 years ago. Vampies and Wizards were absolutely dominating the box office. Now, at this point in time, the Twilight series has come to an end for the time being, as well has the Harry Potter series.

I’m sure we’ll see Wizards and Vampires return to the big screen again at some point, but it’s hard to tell when. As of right now, witches are the current trend in Hollywood. American Horror Story: Coven has definitely thrown witches back into the spotlight.

I wanted to look back on this post, because it was the very first time that I had used the poll feature on The Trend Guys, if I’m not mistaken. I also wanted to check in on the votes to see who had won the intense battle between vampires and wizards. Well, as of December 19th, 2013, it looks like wizards have definitely kicked some vampire ass.
