Target Won’t Sell Beyonce’s New Album

Target is refusing to sell Beyonce’s new album.

Hey everyone, Steven here from The Trend Guys and I’m bringing you one of the latest music trends.

If you want to get your hands on Beyonce’s new CD, you’re going to have to get it somewhere besides Target, because they will not be selling Beyonce’s new CD in stores.

Beyonce surprised everyone with a new album on Friday, December 13th and she must have really pissed Target off.

Both Target and Beyonce have worked together in the past, but Target isn’t going to support her new album, as they will not be carrying the physical CD in their stores when it does get released, as it’s only available digitally right now.

At Target we focus on offering our guests a wide assortment of physical CDs, and when a new album is available digitally before it is available physically, it impacts demand and sales projections. – Erica Julkowski, Spokesperson for Target.

Beyonce’s latest release set some new records on iTunes, as she was able to sell over 800,000 albums in the world — 600,000 of which were sold in the United States alone. All of this happened over the course of three days.

Beyonce was able to set a record for the best first week digital album sales of all time. Unfortunately for her, she wasn’t able to top Justin Timberlake for Top Album of 2013.

Erica Julkowski went on to say:

While there are many aspects that contribute to our approach, and we have appreciated partnering with Beyonce in the past, we are primarily focused on offering CDs that will be available in a physical format at the same time as all other formats. At this time, Target will not be carrying Beyonce’s new self-titled album Beyonce. – Erica Julkowski

As stated above, Target and Beyonce have teamed up together before. When Beyonce released her album, “4,” Target released a special edition that contained six additional songs, which was exclusive to Target.

If you want to get your hands on Beyonce’s newest album, you can head over to iTunes for the time being to pick it up.

Of course, major retailers will get their hands on the physical form of the CD before Christmas. As a matter of fact, the CD will hit stores on December 20th.

If you want to get the album on iTunes, you can go here: Beyonce on iTunes.
