This week, Shia LaBeouf made headlines with his art exhibit titled, #IAMSORRY. The exhibit runs over the weekend, and then it is coming to an end, and people cannot help but wonder what the actor, who claims to be retiring from show business, will do next. However, LaBeouf’s antics with the #IAMSORRY exhibit, and his behavior as well with the Berlin Film Festival, are not the first time the 27 year old actor has made headlines. Here are the top 3 times that Shia LaBeouff has made headlines in the past.
1. A 2008 drunk driving car accident
While filming the second Transformer film, Revenge of the Fallen, LaBeouf was involved in a car accident that while technically was not his fault, he still refused to take a breathalyzer test, which brought up the question of his sobriety level at the time of the incident. The driver of the other car ran a red light, struck his vehicle, and his hand was badly injured in the incident. As a result of the accident, his injured hand had to become part of the Revenge of the Fallen plot.
2. Never Bite the Hand that Gives You a Career
In 2010, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford decided to do another Indiana Jones movie, and the role of Indy’s son was given to LaBeouf. While discussing another film, LaBeouf had a few choice words for Steven Spielberg, and essentially blamed the movie’s minimal box office success on his directing skills. LaBeouf later apologized for what he said about Spielberg, but by then it was way too late to smooth over many ruffled feathers.
3. A gentleman does not kiss and tell …unless you’re Shia LaBeouf
Sometimes on screen chemistry can turn into off screen hookups, and that is the case with Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf. The two had an intimate relationship after the first Transformers movie, and at the time, Fox was not with her future husband, Brian Austin Green. When LaBeouf went public with their relationship, it put Fox in a very compromising position once she got back with Green. Gentlemen should not kiss and tell because bragging can end up costing them a lot.
Shia LaBeouf has been in the headlines this week because of his #IAMSORRY art exhibit. However, this is not the first time that he has gotten attention, and it undoubtedly will not be the last. The old saying about there being no such thing as bad publicity is not necessarily true, and maybe Shia needs to remember that before he creates more headlines that may come back to bite him in the butt one day.
